Regarding prestigious people, the province currently has 412 prestigious people among ethnic minority communities, including 372 Khmer and 17 Hoa ethnic people. Of the total, nine are women and 45 are religious dignitaries.

Despite their different backgrounds and educational qualifications, these prestigious people share a common characteristic: they are widely respected and highly regarded by their communities as exemplary figures and role models.

Over recent years, the province has consistently paid attention to ensuring the full implementation of policies and entitlements for prestigious people in accordance with decisions issued by central authorities. In addition, the province has adopted a specific resolution providing financial support covering 100% of their health insurance premiums and partial funding for information dissemination and public communication activities.

During the first six months of 2026, the provincial Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs organised visits and presented gifts to prestigious people from ethnic minority communities on the occasions of the Lunar New Year and traditional ethnic minority New Year festivals. It also distributed newspapers and visited those who were ill, with total expenditure exceeding VND 400 million.

Prestigious people have also been invited to attend conferences and training courses, where they contribute opinions to the formulation of local socio-economic development plans.
